⚠️ Escobita is currently in Beta.
There are known issues, behaviours that still need polishing, and many parts of the game that will continue to improve.
We're releasing Escobita at this stage because we want to start sharing it with the world, learn from real players, and use their feedback to make the game better.
This Beta is free to play with no match limit and includes 2-, 3- and 4-player Escoba matches against multiple AI difficulty levels.
If you find a bug, notice something that doesn't feel quite right, or simply have an idea, we'd love to hear from you.
ABOUT ESCOBITA
Escobita is a modern videogame adaptation of the traditional card game Escoba, played with a Spanish deck and built around one simple number: fifteen.
Play cards from your hand, capture combinations from the table that add up to fifteen, and clear the table to score an escoba. Easy to learn — but with plenty of room for strategy.
Escobita is being built with a strong focus on craft, research and accessibility. Its visual identity and original decks are informed by the study and comparison of historical playing cards — including decks more than two centuries old — to understand the conventions shared by the tradition without simply reproducing a modern commercial deck.
Accessibility is also being considered from the design stage rather than added at the end. Color perception, readability and different ways of presenting information are being researched and tested as part of the game's interface and card design.
Generative AI is used as part of the development workflow, including programming assistance, research and parts of the visual production process. Its output is reviewed, tested, selected and edited as part of a human-directed development process. Game design, art direction, UX decisions and the final implementation remain under human direction.
Escobita is currently in active development. This Beta provides free access to the core game with no match limit, including 2-, 3- and 4-player matches against multiple AI difficulty levels. Players can enjoy Escoba for as long as they want, while additional modes, content and features are planned for future versions.
Development is being documented through devlogs, including the research, experiments, tools, accessibility work and design decisions behind the game.
Following or supporting Escobita is completely optional. Contributions help with development tools, services and infrastructure, but do not unlock exclusive content or create rewards or obligations.
